Careers Education and Guidance is provided through school.

We have a dedicated School Careers adviser who works directly with students offering advice and support.

Our provision is as follows:

Information
  • Support for use of software & websites e.g. 14-19 area-wide prospectuses.
  • Kudos online is published to all Year groups and form tutors book sessions in the library for all students to access programme.

Careers information is available during the Tuesday Lunchtime Careers Drop In Clinic via Jobs4u, ECLIPS and KUDOS internet based careers packages. Support will be provided for pupils using these packages.

  • Learning Support.
  • Behaviour and truancy support programmes.
  • Continuation of ‘looked after’ review process.
  • Progress File, 14-19 Individual Learning Planning.
  • Review of young people’s progress.

Identification and referral of young people needing additional support.

  • Mentoring support for young people inc. targeted.
  • Support for Aim Higher and Gifted & Talented young people.

The impact of this career guidance is regularly checked via student conversations, follow up sessions with students, student surveys and regular meetings with specific students.

Further one to one guidance interviews with gifted & talented students resulting in action plan for pupils summarising interview and next steps.

One to one guidance interviews with Year 11 students prioritising SEN and those referred by the learning mentors as at risk of disengaging. All interviews to result in action plan for pupils summarising interview and next steps (inc S140 assessments for any statemented pupils).
