Ted was born in Hackney in 1934.
Throughout the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s he was responsible for some of the most iconic and famous TV programmes.
The Sweeney, Minder, Sharpe, Soldier Soldier, Inspector Morse, Lewis, Kavanagh QC, Goodnight Mister Tom are just a sample of the programmes that he produced.
He had a long working relationship with John Thaw
Ted was the chair of BAFTA from 1993 – 1995
