He started a career as a Teacher and he became involved in the Joan Littlewood group at Theatre Royal Stratford East, working with a talented group of artists
John was one of the most famous actors in the 1960s and 1970s and was a regular on TV working with a host of comedy greats
He was the famous voice of Mr Shifter in the PG Tips advert
