Learning German at St. Bonaventure’s
RC Comprehensive School:
As a specialist languages college, we firmly believe that
learning a language plays an important role in the development
and education of the individual. At St Bonaventure's you will
have the opportunity to study two languages from year 7 through
to "A" Level.
We offer the following programmes of study
in Modern Foreign Languages:
- In Year 7 pupils will be taught French, German or Spanish
- In Year 8 pupils will continue to take their ‘first’
language for one hour and their second language for 2 hours
per week.
- In year 9, pupils will continue to study one of the two
languages with the option to choose their second language
as an additional GCSE.
- This allows pupils the opportunity to take a second GCSE
in their second language in Year 11. Some may also opt to
do an AS level in their ‘first’ language in
Year 11.
Warum Deutsch?
German is a hugely popular subject at St. Bonaventure’s
School with results above the school average.
The benefits of having a second language are widely recognised
amongst employers and universities. With a decreasing number
of people able to speak a second language on leaving education
– this is a skill that will set you apart from the rest!
Employers and universities also acknowledge that those pupils
who have learnt a second language are often better communicators
in their own language, have a better understanding of other
countries and cultures and, particularly if they have been
abroad, are more open and adaptable to new experiences. |
