PROGRESSION ROUTES 2006 - 07
Of the 189 Year 11 students on roll, 132 returned to St Angela’s & St Bonaventure’s Sixth Form Centre. The remaining percentage was distributed fairly evenly between Further Education, Employment, Network Youth Training and others whose destination routes are as yet unknown. Of the 128 Year 13 students, 111 returned to Higher Education, 6 to Further Education, 5 took a ‘Gap Year’ and 6 to employment.

St Bonaventure's School was founded by the Catholic Church to provide education for boys of Catholic families. The school is conducted by its governing body as part of the Catholic church in accordance with its trust deed and instrument of government, and seeks at all times to be a witness to Jesus Christ.

Whenever there are more applications than places available, priority will always be given to Catholic applicants in accordance with the over subscription criteria stated below.

The Governors of St Bonaventure’s School intend to admit 180 pupils into Year 7 for the academic year 2009/2010. They invite applications for admission from those who desire a Catholic education for their children. Applications for places at St Bonaventure’s for starting September 2007 were: 600. Parents must be fully prepared to support the Catholic nature and ethos of St Bonaventure’s as described in the school prospectus.

Applications - What you have to do

  1. Yellow Common Application Forms (CAF) provided by Newham’s Children and Young People’s Services indicating preference of secondary school must be sent to the London Borough of Newham, Pupils Services Section, Children and Young People’s Service, Broadway House, 322 High Street, Stratford, London E15 1AJ Friday 24 October 2008.
  2. Blue application forms for St Bonaventure’s should be returned to the school by Monday 8 December 2008. These will be provided by Newham’s Pupil Service Section on receipt of your completed CAF, or in the case of the Catholic primary schools in Newham through the schools along with the CAF.
  3. Newham residents should only complete the Newham CAF. This includes those whose children attend school outside of the Borough. Non-Newham residents must apply through their home Local Authority. They can either pick up the Blue St Bonaventure’s application from the school or contact Newham’s Pupil Service Section to be sent one. Newham residents should return the Yellow CAF to Pupil Services by Friday Friday 24 October 2008 and the Blue school form together with photocopies of Baptismal and First Holy Communion Certificates to St Bonaventure’s by Monday 8 December 2008. Non-Newham residents should return their borough’s CAF to their local authority and the Blue Application form together with photocopies of Baptismal and First Holy Communion Certificates to St Bonaventure’s by Monday 8 December 2008.
  4. Catholic applicants will be required to support their application with a Parish Priest reference, which will confirm practice, This should be sent under separate cover to the school by the Parish Priest (not by the applicant) by Monday 8 December 2008.
  5. Non-Catholic applicants must also arrange for their minister or faith leader to send a letter (confirming their practice to the school) by Monday 8 December 2008.
  6. The Governors require parents to submit proof of residence by attaching a photocopy of their most recent Council Tax bill, or Housing Benefit or Council Tenancy Agreement (No other forms are acceptable) to their Blue Application form) by Monday 8 December 2008.
  7. Late applications for a given year, received after the closing date will be considered in accordance with the Admissions Criteria, set out below, from the date of receipt, after all the on time applications have been dealt with.
  8. Applications from families moving into the Borough after the application process has ended will be placed on the Waiting List in the relevant Category.

Applicants who do not produce a parish priest’s reference/minister’s supporting letter with their application will not qualify within their respective category and will not be offered a place.

Applicants are requested to note that applications will be invalid unless BOTH forms described above have been completed and received at the correct addresses.
