Geography
The Geography Department consists of:
Mr M O'Connor – Head of Geography
Mr D. Ansu
Geography is about people and the
environment. It includes the study of physical and human processes
that shape the environment, places and patterns at the earth's
surface, and the people who live there. The National Curriculum
for GCSE states that:
"Geography is
concerned to promote an understanding of the nature of the earth's
surface and, more particularly, the character of places, the complex
nature of people's relationships and interactions with their environment
and the importance in human affairs of location and the spatial
organisation of human activities".
Geography can help pupils make sense of their physical and human
surroundings and extend their knowledge and understanding to more
distant places. It helps to provide a perspective in which they
can place local, national and international events and enable them
to function more effectively as members of society
